What is the Candela GentleYAG System?
The Candela GentleYAG System is a non-invasive laser therapy device specifically designed to eliminate undesired hair from all parts of the body, including tanned skin. It also s unmatched treatment capabilities in permanent hair reduction, vascular lesions, and wrinkles. How does the Candela Gentle YAG remove hair works? The laser systems emit a gentle beam of high-intensity light that penetrates deep into skin tissue to the hair follicle where it delivers a controlled amount of targeted therapeutic heat. The hair absorbs it, the energy from the laser is transformed into heat and the hair follicle is disabled. This device incorporates Dynamic Cooling Device technology (DCD) protects the upper layers of your skin with a cooling burst of cryogen. A hand held unit first sprays coolant and then flashes of pulsed laser energy safely penetrates the skin to disable hundreds of hair follicles simultaneously. Much of the hairs are lased immediately. The remaining hair in the treated area, fall out within a week or two. A treatment could take as few minutes to as long as an hour or more, depending on the area and condition being treated. Together, the long-pulse laser and DCD cooling optimal treatment with minimal side effects.
Are there any side effects?
You may experience some short -term side effects. This may include purpura (a laser bruise), blistering, slight redness of the skin, and local swelling around the hair follicle, which only last a few days. These short-term side effects indicate that the hair follicle has responded to the treatment. Most people return to work the same day and resume all normal activities directly after the procedure.
Is it painful?
Some patients experience a mild sting or pinch. It can feel like a small snap of a rubber band This discomfort resolves in several seconds and is minimized by Candela’s DCD cooling. No local anesthesia or pain medication is required, however, for some patients, a topical anesthesia cream may be applied to skin one hour to treatment to minimize any pain. Be sure to discuss this with your practitioner.
How many treatments are required?
Several treatments may be needed depending upon the location of the hair on the body, with each session usually lasting 10 to 30 minutes. Some factors include hair density, and your own hair’s growth cycle. Age, diet, ethnicity, weight, hormones, medication, and metabolism all may effect your hair’s location, thickness, and resilience.
How does the Gentle YAG compare with electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to destroy them one at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatment at regular intervals. The Gentle YAG, non-invasively and painlessly treats hundreds of hair follicles simultaneously. So, in a few minutes, the gentle YAG can treat an area that would take over an hour with electrolysis.
