Description: Breast reduction surgery is sought by many women to relieve the mental distress, physical restrictions, and painful strain on other parts of the body caused by excessively heavy breasts. Over-sized breasts are a distressing source of neck, back, and shoulder pain. Skin irritation and a variety of other medical problems are associated with excessively heavy breasts.

Technically called reduction mammaplasty, breast reduction involves removal of excess breast tissue to reshape and lift the breasts.
Length: 3-4 hours
Side Effects: Swelling, edema, altered nipple sensation, bruising.
Recovery: It may take 6 months to a year for breasts to settle into their new shape, but swelling and bruising will disappear in the first few weeks. May ache for a couple of weeks. Should avoid lifting or pushing anything heavy for 3 to 4 weeks. Back to work (if not too strenuous) and social activities: about 2 weeks. Back to non-strenuous work activity within a week; active exercise usually after two weeks.
Expected Results: Permanent, sensitive to hormonal shifts, weight changes, and pregnancy.
